Have you considered making a larger gift to support SCETV and SC Public Radio, but you are concerned about how that gift might affect your cash flow? With a charitable gift annuity, you can increase your support and enjoy the security of a fixed income for life. As an added benefit, you may be able to claim an immediate tax deduction!

How it Works

A charitable gift annuity (CGA) is a contract between a charity and a donor. The donor makes an irrevocable transfer of cash or marketable securities to the charity. In return, the charity agrees to make fixed payments for life to one or two individual annuitants.

Here is an example*:  Karen, age 77, gives a cash gift of $15,000 to the ETV Endowment to establish a charitable gift annuity.  Karen’s rate of return, based on her age, is 6.2 percent. She will receive fixed payments in quarterly installments totaling $930 annually for the rest of her life, plus a $7,183 potential federal income tax deduction in the year she makes the gift.  In addition, $704 of Karen’s $930 annual payment is tax-free for the first 11 years.

The ETV Endowment of South Carolina adheres to the rates published by the American Council on Gift Annuities (ACGA).  The ACGA is a qualified nonprofit organization formed in 1927 as the Committee on Gift Annuities for the purpose of providing educational and other services to American charities regarding gift annuities and other forms of planned gifts.  One of the primary activities of the ACGA is the publication of suggested charitable gift annuity rates for use by charities and their donors.
