Lift Every Voice in the Loop
South Carolina ETV, South Carolina Public Radio and the ETV Endowment invite you to a community screening of two upcoming series, Henry Louis Gates' GOSPEL and PBS KIDS' Lyla in the Loop. All ages are welcome to join this family event featuring a celebration of all things gospel with performances by four area gospel choirs and clips from the film. During the gospel concert, ETV Education will host a screening of an upcoming episode of Lyla in the Loop for elementary school-aged children in the church's children's facilities.
Two food trucks will be onsite and open for purchases from 4:30-6:00 PM before the start of the event.
From blues to hip hop, African Americans have been a driving force behind groundbreaking music for more than a century. Musical styles come and go, but there's one sound that has been a constant source of strength, courage and wisdom from the pulpit to the choir lofts on any given Sunday. GOSPEL, the latest history series from Henry Louis Gates, Jr., digs deep into the origin story of Black spirituality through sermon and song.
ABOUT LYLA IN THE LOOP
Lyla in the Loop follows Lyla, a dynamic 7-year-old girl who lives in a big city with her close-knit family, her fantastical blue sidekick, Stu, and a host of relatable and quirky characters in her community. Lyla loves to collaborate with Stu, her mom and dad, her older twin sisters and her little brother to solve every day mishaps, messes and mix-ups. Along the way, Lyla relies on creative problem-solving and critical thinking skills to design and test her inventions and build imaginative contraptions, which lead to clever solutions as well as comedic disasters.
