May Highlights: AAPI Heritage, Mental Health Awareness and Memorial Day Programming on SCETV

Dear Viewers and Listeners,

As we step into the month of May, SCETV is proud to honor Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage and Mental Health Awareness Month as well as Memorial Day. Through our programming, we aim to shed light on the importance of awareness, resilience and well-being within our communities.

As reminders of the resilience and strength inherent within the AAPI community, Photographic Justice: The Corky Lee Story highlights a photographer dedicated to preserving Asian American life in mainstream media on May 13 at 10 p.m. On May 30 at 9 p.m., A Long March shares the untold stories of Filipino American WWII veterans whose service and sacrifices were overlooked by the U.S. government.

In recognition of Mental Health Awareness Month, SCETV Safe Space: Building Healthy Relationships premieres on May 23 at 7 p.m., delving into the importance of cultivating positive peer relationships among teens.

This month, we are also honoring the courageous men and women who have served and sacrificed for our nation. Aiming to demystify the military experience and amplify the voices of service members, season 2 of After Action premieres May 6 at 9 p.m. We honor the courageous men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service during PBS' coverage of the National Memorial Day Concert on May 26 at 8 p.m. and again at 9:30 p.m.

We are also excited to premiere Echoes and Insights on May 5 at 5 p.m. and Town on Fire on May 16 at 9 p.m., offering profound insights into our state's past and present.

As we reflect on the wonderful programming offered through our network, I invited you to join us in celebrating Public Media Giving Day on May 2. Our team has planned an exciting event filled with live engagement, featuring special guests, and opportunities to deepen local engagement and support public media in South Carolina.

We are truly thankful for your unwavering support of SCETV. Your commitment enables us to continue our mission to amplify, educate and strengthen South Carolina.
