You are invited to lunch!
Update: This event will be re-scheduled for the fall.
Please join me for lunch on Tuesday, June 12th for the first in a series of free workshops exploring how you can easily incorporate charitable giving into your estate plans. We’ll enjoy lunch together, have a lively discussion with the always-charming SCETV Commissioner Elise Bidwell and take a tour of the SCETV studios that will be chock-full of glimpses behind the scenes.
Since I hope we will be having lunch together soon, I should introduce myself. My name is Rachel Chesser and I am the ETV Endowment’s new Planned Giving Officer. I am so excited about this new role for two reasons. First, it is my absolute joy to work with our members, viewers and listeners who feel as passionately about public media programming as I do! Shows on SCETV and South Carolina Public Radio are an integral part of my life because these programs never fail to entertain, educate and inspire me. Whether I’m learning a new facet of South Carolina history from Walter Edgar’s Journal, giggling along with my kids to Odd Squad or getting caught up in the latest dramatic episode of Victoria with my husband, public media programs have been important to me since I started watching Sesame Street as a kid in the ‘70s. I feel so fortunate to work with members who share this same passion. (pictured: Rachel (left) with NPR’s Cokie Roberts)
The second reason I am excited about my new role in planned giving is that anyone can have the capacity to make a meaningful impact on their community through a planned, or estate, gift without affecting their current lifestyle. I think you will be surprised at how simple it is, even for those of us of modest means, to make a meaningful gift to the causes we care about. If you ever ask yourself:
- “What kind of legacy do I want to leave?”
- “How can I give back to my community in a meaningful way?”
- “After providing for my family, how can I include charities in my plans?”
- or even, “What are some tax-wise ways that I can support my favorite causes?”
then I encourage you to attend this workshop and explore your options. It is never too early or too late to make or update your plans. Here is what you need to know about the workshop:
