Sonatas and Soundscapes Broadcasts Live During Spoleto Festival USA

Sonatas and Soundscapes will broadcast live from Charleston during this year’s Spoleto Festival USA. Host Bradley Fuller blends music with festival-focused interviews to create a spontaneous atmosphere, making listeners feel like they are at Spoleto. The 17-day festival runs from May 25 to June 10 and includes such offerings as Donizetti’s Pia de’ Tolomei, the Miami City Ballet, the acrobatics of Backbone, Westminster Choir concerts and the always popular Chamber Music Concerts.

Bradley Fuller began hosting South Carolina Public Radio’s live classical music program in January 2017.  Originally from Greenwood, SC, Bradley has maintained a deep interest in classical music since the age of six. With piano lessons throughout grade school and involvement in marching and concert bands on the saxophone, and earning a Bachelor of Arts in Music at USC, Bradley further developed his musical abilities as well as an appreciation for the importance of arts education.

Of the program, he said, “I aim to feature selections from all eras of what we call classical music – from Renaissance to the present day. With such variety, I hope both to please as many listeners as I can, and simultaneously challenge them a little bit. In other words, I want to remind the avant-garde crowd about the long tradition stretching back centuries and the staunch traditionalists that music of all sorts is still being produced that we might, in some sense, term classical.”

Sonatas and Soundscapes airs live weekdays at 11 a.m. on news/music stations and is available for streaming on southcarolinapublicradio.org.

"I listen to classical music and appreciate the programming, especially that of Bradley Fuller. I even listen to his programming when we are away because I enjoy the variety of styles and composers.”
