Serving Up Stories That Matter
As president [of South Carolina ETV and SC Public Radio], I appreciate that public media continues to elevate the voice and stories of women who shape our communities and our culture. Women's History Month is a time to honor both the trailblazers who paved the way and the women who continue to lead, create and inspire every day. This month's programming reflects our commitment to telling those stories with purpose and care. Corrine and Celestine, airing March 26 at 8 p.m., examines the civil rights era through the lived experiences of two women whose stories complicate and deepen South Carolina's historical record. Other new programs include She Rises Up, premiering March 22 at 5 p.m. on ETV, which follows three women using entrepreneurship to uplift their communities, and Eudora, airing March 16 at 9 p.m. on ETV, a revealing portrait of writer Eudora Welty set against her Mississippi home. Marian McPartland: First Lady of Jazz airs March 20 at 8:30 p.m. on ETV, honoring the legendary SC Public Radio musician on her birthday through rare archival footage and interviews. On the South Carolina Channel, Rowdy Girl premieres March 31 at 10 p.m., sharing one woman's journey toward compassion and sustainability after leaving industrial agriculture behind.
March also brings strong new seasons of local favorites. I'm incredibly proud of the work our team does every day to curate and share stories for and about South Carolinians. From the Lowcountry to the Upstate, our state is rich with voices, history and lived experiences. We feel it is a privilege to help bring those stories to light. Through local storytelling, we strive to strengthen community, deepen understanding and ensure South Carolina sees itself reflected across our platforms. A new season of Now We're Cookin' with Chef Lauren Furey launches March 17 on SCETV's website, YouTube channel and social media platforms. Coastal Kingdom also returns for season six on March 18 at 7:30 p.m. on ETV. A live panel discussion, SMART Thinking in the Age of AI, examines one of today's most influential technological developments on March 19 at 7 p.m. on ETV. Continuing to SCETV's highlight on local sports, Southern Conference basketball fans can catch live men's quarterfinal games on March 7 on the South Carolina Channel.
This month is also a great time to encourage others to become a member or renew your membership with the ETV Endowment. Our television pledge drive began on February 28 and continues through March 15, and our radio pledge drive will be live on March 16-27. Throughout the drives, we are excited to welcome local favorites and guests on air to share what they love best about public media and how you can get even more involved.
Thank you for being part of South Carolina ETV and Public Radio and for supporting the voices, stories and local productions that strengthen our communities.
