I'm a rising junior from London, Kentucky –otherwise known as the birthplace of KFC. I go to Converse College in Spartanburg, South Carolina where I study creative/professional writing, philosophy and marketing.
I got my introduction to public media when I was little. I use to sit by the radio and mimic the accents of the radio broadcasters’ from NPR programs. I did this in hopes of one day being a broadcaster myself as well as to get rid of my “mountain” accent that I use to be so embarrassed about. Later, I came to know SCETV radio through the long drives across South Carolina. I wanted to be an intern at SCETV because I have a passion for delivering news and telling stories and I hope this amazing opportunity as a SCETV intern will open opportunities for me to follow that passion.
I think public media is so important because now it is important as ever to be aware of the events that can impact us, in South Carolina and beyond.
When I’m not an intern, I’m busy with being the editor of my college’s student-run newspaper, The Conversationalist. I also enjoy writing fiction and poetry. When I’m not writing, I love hiking with my dog, Mumford.
