Letter from the SCETV President

By Anthony Padgett, President & CEO SCETV

Dear Viewers and Listeners:

In March, SCETV starts off the month with our spring Festival programming. From March 3 – 18, our TV schedule is full of great new programming, including a new My Music special, Doo Wop Generations; music from the Bee Gees, Yanni, the Rolling Stones, Queen and Jimmy Buffett; excellent mind-body health advice from Dr. Rudy Tanzi and Dr. Deepak Chopra; and essential financial retirement information from Ed Slott.

We’re also excited to begin airing This Old House episodes that were taped in Charleston. The crew, with the help of local apprentices, tackles two houses in the area to recapture the original beauty while extensively renovating them with updates for modern families.

This month, we also celebrate the late jazz pianist, Marian McPartland’s 100th birthday. SC Public Radio and producer Shari Hutchinson are in the process of digitizing all of the masters of the long-running NPR series Marian McPartland’s Piano Jazz, which has won multiple awards throughout its broadcast career. In honor of her birthday, NPR’s Jazz Night in America devotes an entire program to the influence of Piano Jazz, featuring rare selections from its archives as well as interviews with Marian’s friends and family. SCETV encores Marian McPartland: First Lady of Jazz, a look at the pianist’s career; followed by McPartland & Brubeck in Concert, which features the two jazz legends together in performance.

This month, we have a wide variety of series and specials you’ll enjoy—and we can only bring them to you with your wonderfully loyal support. Thank you!
