Connecting Communities Through Education and Storytelling
As summer break winds down and students across South Carolina head back to school, we're reminded of the critical role education plays in shaping our future, and the vital support system surrounding every learner. At South Carolina ETV and SC Public Radio, education is at the heart of our mission. From creating standards-aligned curriculum to providing trusted resources for teachers and families, public media is a partner in the classroom and beyond. Whether it's on-air or online, we have proven we are here to help learners of all ages thrive.
This month, SCETV is proud to distribute donations collected through the Palmetto Pencil Project, our statewide teacher supply drive supporting classrooms across South Carolina. We also open submissions for the 2026 NextLens Online Film Festival, a digital showcase for South Carolina filmmakers to share their stories, creativity and vision with a broader audience.
On August 3 at 11 p.m. on the South Carolina Channel, WZZQ The Movie revisits the freewheeling energy of 1970s FM radio, told through the voices of the DJs and fans. One of the weekly episodes of SC Public Radio's interactive game show Who What When will also feature trivia on 1970s pop culture. Later in the month, we celebrate the artistic force of Aldwyth, a South Carolina native. Aldwyth: Fully Assembled airs August 18 at 8 p.m. on the South Carolina Channel, showcasing the life and work of a singular talent whose intricate collages and imaginative constructions defy categorization. A new SCETV series, Front Porch Carolinas, premieres August 21 at 8 p.m. on ETV and re-airs across our network throughout the month. This inaugural episode highlights locations in South Carolina with deep civil rights significance.
From August 9-16, we invite you to support our summer fundraising drive. Your generosity helps SCETV continue delivering trusted, impactful and locally relevant programming.
Thank you for being part of our public media community. Your engagement ensures that every student has access to high-quality educational tools regardless of where they live or learn.
