Celebrating South Carolina’s Revolutionary Spirit
Dear Viewers and Listeners,
As we reflect on America’s journey from the Revolution to today, it is important to honor the legacy of all who helped shape our freedom. Here in South Carolina, many people played roles, both large and small, in building that legacy, and generations of veterans have since carried it forward through their service and sacrifice: for which we are grateful. We began commemorating the 250th anniversary with Ken Burns earlier this year in Charleston. His upcoming film, The American Revolution underscores how South Carolina's stories added to the strength of this country and why those efforts cannot be overlooked. By remembering and highlighting everyone's collective contributions, we celebrate not only our shared history but also the enduring spirit of resilience that continues to define our state and nation.
We are excited to premiere The American Revolution on Nov. 16. This six-part, 12-hour series explores how 13 colonies won independence. A new History in a Nutshell, available at SCETV.org, also examines the legacies of South Carolina’s Revolutionary War generals Andrew Pickens, Thomas Sumter and Francis Marion. Additional local programming around the 250th celebration will be shared leading up to July 2026.
We also honor Veterans Day with special programming. On Nov. 10, a new episode of After Action titled “We Were There” airs at 9 p.m., featuring stories from female veterans who served as nurses in the Vietnam War. Then, at 10 p.m., Salute to Service 2025: A Veterans Day Celebration, hosted by Mickey Guyton, blends moving stories with unforgettable music to honor our heroes.
Native American Heritage Month is marked with films that amplify Indigenous voices. In the Wake of Justice Delayed airs on Nov. 2, sharing the stories of Alaska Native families. Bring Them Home airs later in the month on Nov. 24 and documents the only tribal-led buffalo drive in North America, followed by Iniskim, a moving story of resilience.
A new episode of IMPACT South Carolina titled “The Silver Tsunami” will air on Nov. 13 at 7 p.m. The episode examines South Carolina’s aging community and is followed at 7:45 p.m. by Palmetto Perspectives “Parenting Our Parents,” focused on caregiving. Additionally, on SC Public Radio, ColaJazz Presents “Motown” airs on Nov. 16 at 8 p.m., celebrating the enduring legacy of Motown music.
Thank you for choosing to support SCETV, ensuring we can share these stories and celebrations with audiences throughout the Palmetto State and beyond.
