Brighten your Holiday Season with South Carolina Public Radio

Get ready for a celebratory musical holiday season with South Carolina Public Radio!

This month, SC Public Radio will brighten your holiday season with music and performances from far away and close to home. 

A Chanticleer Christmas A program of holiday favorites, new and old, presented live in concert by the superb 12-man ensemble known as "an orchestra of voices." Monday, December 18 at noon

Christmas with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir is lush renditions of favorite Christmas carols. Those warm memories and feelings come right back again in this holiday special. Tuesday, December 19 at noon

Welcome Christmas! The perennial Christmas favorite from VocalEssence, one of the world’s premiere choral groups. An hour of traditional carols and new discoveries. Wednesday, December 20 at noon

SymphonyCast The Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra and St. Thomas Boys Choir, conducted by Gotthold Schwarz performs BACH: Christmas Oratorio, BWV 248 (Cantatas 1-3, 6).  Wednesday, December 20 at 7 p.m. and Saturday, December 23 at 3 p.m.

A Festival of Lessons and Carols The choir of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church of Columbia performs this service. Thursday, December 21 at noon

Carolina Live A holiday edition of the series featuring the Bel Canto Company of Greensboro performing holiday favorites with conductor Wellborn Young and pianist Karen Beres in a concert from 2014. Sunday, December 24 at 6 a.m. and Tuesday, December 26 at 7 p.m.

A Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols Live from the chapel of King’s College in Cambridge, England. Sunday, December 24 at 10 a.m.

Thistle and Shamrock – Fiona Ritchie’s Holiday Celebration A blend of festive songs, carols, stories and season’s greetings will bring the spirit of the holidays to the hearth of your home. Sunday, December 24 at 9 p.m.

A Choral Christmas With Stile Antico Celebrate Christmas with the sound of soaring voices,. Stile Antico, the award winning choir from London, pays a visit to St. Paul’s church on Harvard Square for a concert of radiant sacred music for the Christmas season by the most acclaimed composers of the renaissance. Hear the group’s luminous blend of voices sing the intricately woven music of Thomas Tallis and William Byrd. Monday, December 25 at noon     

Christmas with Morehouse and Spelman Glee Clubs One of the great holiday traditions in America, the choirs of Morehouse and Spelman Colleges -- two of the most prestigious historically black institutions in the nation -- get together to present a spine-tingling concert program. Tuesday, December 26 at noon

A Paul Winter Solstice Concert Celebrate the Return of the Sun -- and the Warming of the heart with Paul Winter's Annual Winter Solstice Celebration. On the darkest night of the year, we head back to New York's Cathedral of St. John the Divine to hear The Paul Winter Consort and the glorious Cathedral Pipe Organ.  Wednesday, December 27 at noon – Part One and Thursday, December 28 at noon – Part Two
