South Carolina ETV and the ETV Endowment invite you and your young friends to explore the newest show, Elinor Wonders Why , and to investigate some answers to all those "Why?" questions your own pre-schooler might be asking. We’ll meet Elinor and her friends as they follow their curiosity, ask questions when they don’t understand and find answers using science inquiry skills. After the episode, hear from a preschool science teacher, Ms. Lindsay, as she takes on some of the "Why?" questions SCETV kids want to know. And of course, SCETV’s own Smart Cat will make a celebrity appearance. Register now, and be sure to submit your child’s most recent or interesting “Why?” question about the natural world, and Ms. Lindsay may take it on! Serious and silly inquiries are welcomed!

ABOUT THE SERIES: Developed for children ages 3-5, ELINOR WONDERS WHY centers on the adventures of Elinor and her pals, Ari, a funny and imaginative bat; and Olive, a perceptive and warm elephant. As young viewers explore Animal Town along with Elinor, Ari and Olive, they will meet all kinds of interesting, funny, and quirky characters, each with a lesson to share about respecting others, the importance of diversity, caring for the environment and working together to solve problems. Elinor models the foundational practices of science inquiry and engineering design in each episode, using her amazing powers of observation and willingness to ask questions. When she encounters something she doesn’t understand, like why birds have feathers or how tiny ants build massive anthills, she perseveres until she figures it out. In discovering the answers, Elinor often learns something about nature’s ingenious inventions and how they can relate to aspects of our designed world, as well as what it takes to live in a community.

Elinor Wonders Why will air weekdays at 10:30 a.m. and weekends at 1:00 p.m. starting Monday September 7 on SCETV.
